Gold music ring in Morristown Museum



At the Morristown Museum in New Jersey, they will feature the Murtogh D. Guinness collection, including the gold music ring crafted from 18-carat gold which combine the art of jewelry designer, the goldsmith, the engraver, the enameller, the stone setter, and the first generation of musical box makers. The gold music ring was crafted in Switzerland between 1802 and 1812 and plays an ancient song entitled Le Ranz des Vaches, which was popular at the time.

The Morristown Museum measures 4,300 square foot Guinness gallery which could be the permanent home for the collection. The opening day is on November 6 and it will be free for public .The museum also features the 700 other movable figures and musical devices which is part of an exhibit of mechanical music items in the museum's Guinness gallery

Murtogh D. Guiness 150 collection will be displayed to the public in the display , other musical items will be kept in special preservation rooms and some will be visible from some parts of the first floor of the new wing.

Murtogh D Guinness is truly an artist with a thousand of collections. He belong to a Irish Guinness brewery family which began collecting music boxes and other mechanical music items as a child during a visit to France.

Sotheby auction house to sell Kelly and Calvin Klein's pearls


Sotheby auction house will sell a lots of natural pearls and diamonds jewels from the collection of Kelly and Calvin Klein as part of its "Magnificent Jewels" sale on Dec. 4.

Part of the auctions is the pieces of jewelry that include a necklace, pendant and ear clips purchased by the Kleins at Sotheby 1987 auction of "The Jewels of the Duchess of Windsor" in Geneva. The jewelry have a estimated value of $2.2 million-$3.1 million.
The natural pearl and diamond necklace by Cartier that belongs to Queen Mary, who gifted it to her son, the Duke of Windsor. It contains 28 natural pearls with an emerald , diamond and estimated at $1.5 million-$2 million.

The natural pearl and diamond pendant, by Cartier, circa 1950, contains a 190.6-grain pearl capped with single-cut and round diamonds, estimated at $400,000-$600,000.

The pair of natural black and white pearl and diamond ear clips by Van Cleef and Arpels, circa 1957, are estimated at $300,000-$500,000.

Prior to the auction, the pearls will be featured in a worldwide pre-sale exhibition from Nov. 29-Dec. 4

The auctioneer began the bidding by asking if anyone would offer reached to $1,000,000. The winner was Robert Kenmore, the Chairman of the Board of Kenmore Corporation, the owners of Cartier Inc., who paid the record price of $1,050,000 for the gem, which he promptly named the 'Cartier'

$1.795 million for Japanese Diamond Dress


Chris Aire isn't the only one who makes diamond dresses. Recently a store in Osaka, Japan displayed an evening dress decorated with 2,000 diamonds. The dress is blue silk festooned with 300 carats of diamonds and sells for approximately 200 million yen (around $1.795 million).
